Bryce Canyon 2018

May 11, 2018

Today we groggily got up at 5:00am to drive to Bryce Canyon National Park! On day 5, the struggle is getting real with these early mornings and long days, but it’s always worth it.

After taking a picture of God’s Thumbnail (a.k.a. the moon) and our obligatory picture with the Zion National Park sign, we got on our way.

This is the face of a man who has walked over 40,000 steps and not showered in two days. Beautiful, right?
My lovely wife and her oreo breakfast.

We finally rolled in at 8:00am and made our first stop at Fairyland Canyon. It was a sweet start to the day, and the weather was chilly, a welcome change!

We were looking for a longer hike to start off, so we decided on the Queen’s Garden Trail which connected to the Navajo Loop Trail. Combined, these started at Sunrise Point and ended at Sunset Point. We got to walk a good ways down into the canyon, which was awesome, but it also means we had to walk back up! There was more than a 600 foot elevation change going back up to the rim. I looked like a crying little girl compared to Michelle, who absolutely beasted the steep hills and switchbacks. Here is my man card.

After enjoying the sweet success of our hike and after I finished crying, we drove to the end of the park, which is an 18-mile drive up to Rainbow Point. We also ate lunch here, which was PB&J and Doritos, per the uszh.

We then drove down through the park, stopping at viewpoints along the way. Some of the stops included Ponderosa Canyon, Natural Bridge, and Swamp Canyon. Our second to last stop was Paria Point, which was quiet and not busy, so we took a little nap in the car. Baby Mama was tired, and lets be honest, I was tired from all of the crying from earlier.

After dominating some Oreos and Milk as a post nap snack (you can take your judgment elsewhere), we made our last stop at Bryce Point. Pretty incredible. Especially after Oreos.

We then made one last stop outside of the park at a short hike to Mossy Cave. Underwhelming to say the least, but it did help us work off our Oreos. Okay, enough about the Oreos.

Tomorrow, on to Death Valley National Park! We’re missing our Blakey girl, our bed, and our shower. A few more days and we get snuggles!

All the sites —just BEAUTIFUL ! And you are such entertaining writers ! You should write it all up in a book–everyone who can’t got here would enjoy reading about it and seeing the pictures, if they could be put in. These are memories you will have all of your lives !

Michelle, got your SWEET card to day —you are so special !! You always have been–like leaving little notes around for me to find after you had gone. I still have them.
