As you read before, last time we wrote we were dealing with a lovely vomiting illness. Good news – we’re good to go now! By last night we felt good enough to drink water, and had our first meal in 36 hours at breakfast this morning. And it was delicious… croissant and chocolate croissant (I wonder who got which?) from a patisserie called La Baguette Margot down the street. Praise the Lord we can live again.
This morning we rode down the teeny tiny elevator at Margaux’s apartment (see photo below) and were amazed at the difference between American and European standards for how much room is enough. We left Paris and took a train to London via the Chunnel. It definitely made us wish the U.S. had a train system, because it was lovely to see the countryside as we rode smoothly through at a cool 200 mph.
Once we got to London, we rode the Underground to our hotel to drop off our bags and find home base. We previously bought a London Pass, which is a 3-day tourist pass that gives you entry into a ton of London sites of interest, but we decided not to activate it until tomorrow so we could use it Tuesday-Thursday.
Something not included with the pass that we wanted to do was the London Eye, so we headed that way around lunchtime! It was raining off and on, but that’s how it’s supposed to be all week, so we decided it was still worth it. We got a good view of London, although a bit rainy!
After picking up our London Pass, we had a late lunch at a local place that seems to be becoming a tradition – Five Guys! I don’t think we’ll want dinner tonight after that. Now we’re back at the hotel, showered and relaxing some before checking out what hors d’oeuvres are being served in the executive lounge for dinner (because we’re fancy gold members of Marriott, thanks to Taylor’s travel frequency). Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers, and know that they were answered swiftly and we feel like ourselves again. Blake is happy to be getting some food again too!
Love,
Taylor & Michelle
Well….. from the time I started my first post and the time I actually submitted it, I see you have now blogged an update and have posted more pics! Thank goodness you both are feeling better. What amazing pictures! I am so envious! Keep having fun and be careful!!
P.S. Ummmm NO, I would not be able to ride in those teeny tiny elevators there without feeling too claustrophobic! I wonder if Paul would even fit in it at 6’5″ !!
