Vermont

Hello friends and family,

As many of you know, we’re pregnant! Audrey Blake (who will go by Blake) is due in April, so we decided to take a trip before she comes to places we’ve never been – Vermont & Montreal, Canada! We wanted a relaxing trip, so we didn’t make many plans before heading here.

We left on January 2 for Burlington, VT, and stayed in a little Airbnb there. It was cozy with a fireplace and kitchenette, perfect for the cold weather we were greeted with.

We arrived in the evening and had just enough time to walk downtown before the sun set. It was a beautiful sky! We had dinner at The Vermont Pub & Brewery and walked along the Church Street Marketplace to grab a cup of coffee.

Tuesday we slept in and had brunch at Mirabelle’s Café & Bakery. We both got French toast with eggs, bacon, and hash browns, and it was delicious! Such a cute little café. Afterwards we took a scenic drive from Burlington to Rochester on Route 100, stopping at Ben & Jerry’s factory on the way back to take a tour and get free SAMPLES. For dinner we found New World Tortilla, which served us with two burritos the size of Blake. So I had to squeeze TWO babies into my belly that night. Good thing I wanted to, because they were delicious.

(Pretty much all we’re doing on this trip is eating, if you haven’t caught on yet.)

Wednesday we started off with a stroll down the pedestrian mall in downtown to see the shops that were closed in the evening when we’d visited before. We grabbed bagels at Bruegger’s Bagels and visited some shops. It wasn’t too cold at around 35 degrees, so we decided to visit Niquette Bay State Park and take some walks there. The paths were iced over so no one else was around, and we thoroughly enjoyed holding each other up as we slipped and slid down the paths. Some beautiful scenery though!

Taylor wooed me with his not-so-rusty yo-yo skills.

We then drove over to Stowe, Vermont and had lunch at Café on Main and walked around some touristy shops there, including the Cabot Annex (for the free cheese samples) and Lake Champlain Chocolates (for the free chocolate samples and an ice cream cone). We love the character of these New England buildings and houses, and everything looks pretty while dusted with snow!

Our dream home.
Taylor sampling all the cheese. Especially Muenster.

We decided to hang out in the apartment the rest of the afternoon due to the threat of rain/snow, but took one more drive to Lake Champlain for the sunset. It was freezing and windy, hence the hood.

This morning we packed up and left the cozy little apartment we loved for Montreal – another post coming soon!

Love,

Taylor & Michelle
